More than a hundred years after its foundation, with its beech forests recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, the oldest national park in Italy is crossed by a fascinating network of trails, winding between rocky peaks and green forests, home to bears, wolves and chamois. And then there are the historic villages—precious gems of ancient charm—where stories and flavours are hidden, and where tradition meets the present.
